Kargil is a hill station, which serves as the headquarters of Kargil district of Ladakh in Jammu & Kashmir. It is situated at an altitude of 2740 meter with close proximity to the LOC (Line of Control) and shares boundary line with Baltistan of Pakistan Administered Kashmir. This town was shot into the limelight in 1999, when it served as a battleground for Indo-Pak War. Over the years, this small town has become a developing hill station of Ladakh region that famous for its beautiful valleys, unspoiled villages, monasteries and shrines.
